Blog 8 | V-Strom SX 250 Mods | Part 3 – Electronic Upgrades
Hey fellas!
First off, sorry for the delay in dropping the next part of this mod series. Life got in the way, but we’re back! Hope you're all doing great and making the most of your rides.
In this blog, I’m diving into the electronic upgrades I’ve made on my V-Strom SX 250 – the unsung heroes that make every ride smoother, safer, and a whole lot cooler. We’re talking TPMS, auxiliary lights, infotainment systems, hazard flashers, and more. So, without further delay, let’s jump right into it!
Electronic Mods List
TPMS – Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
Maddog Alpha Auxiliary Lights + Wiring harness & Switch Set
Aoocci C3 Infotainment Display
Simtac LED Indicators
FlashX Hazard Flasher
Alarm System (Beep Lock)
1. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Model: SKYSHOP C410
Cost: ₹2,599
Buy Link: Amazon
A reliable and budget-friendly TPMS that I’ve been using for over a year. It's accurate (I’ve cross-verified it with a manual gauge), and what makes it stand out is the dual charging system – USB Type B and a built-in solar panel.
It displays PSI, tire temperature, and allows you to set custom pressure thresholds. If the pressure goes out of range, it blinks red and gives an audible alert. The screen auto-adjusts brightness depending on lighting conditions, and build quality is solid with tough plastic and fiber.
Verdict: Bang for the buck under ₹3K. Highly recommended.
2. Alarm System (Beep Lock)
Model: Wsdcam 113dB Wireless Anti-Theft Alarm
Cost: ₹2,910
Buy Link: Amazon
This is a must-have for anyone who parks their bike in public or unfamiliar areas. The system triggers a loud alarm upon detecting vibration, similar to a car alarm. It’s not ear-shattering, but loud enough to warn off mischief-makers.
It runs on AAA batteries (alarm unit) and a coin battery for the remote – both included in the package. Installation is easy with zip ties, and I’ve mounted mine under the seat. You can change the alarm sound level (low, medium, high), and it locks/unlocks with a single button press.
Verdict: Peace of mind on a budget.
3. FlashX Hazard Flasher
Model: Flash X by RaceDynamics (V-Strom SX Compatible)
Cost: ₹1,480
Buy Link: BandidosPitstop
Hazard flashers are crucial for night rides, long-distance touring, or navigating bad weather. Oddly, Suzuki doesn't provide them stock on the V-Strom SX.
The FlashX flasher is plug-and-play – no wire cutting required. It offers 10–15 flash patterns. However, turning it on/off is a bit tricky. You need to quickly toggle your indicators left-right-left like you’re doing a cheat code. The silver lining? If your hazard is on and you use an indicator, it auto-pauses the hazard and resumes after the turn.
Verdict: Great functionality, but the trigger method could be improved.
4. Simtac LED Indicators
Model: 360° Reflective LED Indicators
Cost: ₹600
Buy Link: Simtac Website
One of the weakest areas of the V-Strom SX 250 is its old-school halogen indicators. I swapped them with these Simtac LEDs, and the improvement is significant – better visibility, quicker response, and longer life.
Simtac offers great value, and the quality feels premium despite the budget price tag. Plus, if you’re installing a hazard system, switching to LED is almost necessary.
Verdict: Small mod, big upgrade.
5. Maddog Alpha Auxiliary Lights
Model: Alpha
Cost: ₹14,900 (without filters)
Installation: Local Store
An ADV bike without aux lights? That’s just wrong! I’ve had these Maddog Alphas installed for over a year now. The build quality is top-notch – from the light housings to the clamps and wiring harness.
They’re plug-and-play, with no wire cuts needed. Maddog includes three filters – Clear, Yellow (fog), and Protective Cover – which cost me an additional ₹1,500. Visibility is excellent, especially at night (I wear specs, so this was essential).
⚠️ Note: These lights draw quite a bit of power. When idling in traffic with the lights on, my horn becomes weak. (I haven’t installed an aftermarket horn yet – maybe that’s next.)
Verdict: Aesthetics + safety upgrade. Just monitor your power usage.
6. Aoocci C3 Infotainment Display
Model: C3 (Metal Clamp Version)
Cost: ₹10,000 (Now updated to C3 Plus at ₹10,200)
Buy Link: Aoocci Website
If you rely on Google Maps or music during long rides, this display is a game changer. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, just like your car’s infotainment system.
Once installed (either directly to battery or ignition-on connection), it automatically pairs with your phone’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It's also compatible with helmet intercom systems like SENA SMH5 & B10, and it has anti-theft screws that require a special spanner to remove.
Verdict: Premium functionality. Safe, sleek, and super useful for touring. (Note*) - This particular product of Aoocci has been upgraded to Aoocci C3 Plus and it cost you around 10k - 12k)
🧰 Final Thoughts
All of these mods are based on my personal experience and riding needs. They may not suit everyone, but they’ve absolutely elevated my V-Strom SX 250 game. From visibility and safety to comfort and convenience, each one brings real value to the ride.
If you’ve got any questions on wiring, installation tips, or alternatives – feel free to drop a comment or message me. I’ll be happy to help out.
Until next time...
Ride safe, stay curious, and keep modding!Cheers,
