Blog 6 | V-Strom SX 250 Mods | Part 2 - Metal Mods

Hey Fellas,

Hope your rides are smooth and the throttle’s been keeping you smiling! Welcome back to Part 2 of my Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 Mods series. In this post, we’ll dive into all the metal add-ons I’ve installed—primarily for protection, comfort, and mounting accessories. These mods have made a huge difference in how my bike looks, feels, and performs, especially on long rides.

As always, this is just my personal experience and point of view—take what works for you and leave the rest. Let’s roll!

Why ZANA?

Most of the metal accessories I’ve installed are from ZANA International—a renowned name in the motorcycle accessories world. They offer high-quality products like crash guards, luggage systems, panniers, top boxes, and more. Their products are known for durability, fitment, and nationwide availability. The buying process is super simple: add to cart, check out, and VOILA—your order is on its way! Delivery typically takes a couple of weeks depending on your location.

What Did I Install?

To make this easy to follow, I’ve broken it down into three sections:

1. Protection

2. Comfort

3. Accessory Mounts

1. Protection Mods

• Crash Guard with Pucks

One of the first and most essential upgrades for any ADV bike. The crash guard with slider puck helps protect your bike's plastic bodywork during accidental drops or minor crashes.

• Bash Plate

The bash plate protects the engine belly, exhaust pipe, and especially the O2 sensor from water, debris, and impact damage.

2. Comfort Mods

The V-Strom SX 250 is already pretty comfy for its price bracket, but I made a couple of tweaks to up the comfort level even more.

• Pillion Footrest

The stock pillion pegs are too small and cause the pillion’s foot to touch the exhaust plastic—leading to scratches. These aftermarket footrests solve that issue perfectly.

• Side Stand Extender

This little add-on gives the side stand better surface contact—especially useful on soft or uneven terrain.

3. Accessory Mounts

• GPS Mount

This mod is almost a must for any ADV rider. Great for mounting mobile holders, TPMS units, or infotainment systems.

• Panniers Setup (Frame)

This was my biggest investment so far in the mod game—and totally worth it. I went for the complete pannier setup including the frame and two 36L aluminum panniers.

The Pros & Cons

So far, all these mods have made my V-Strom bulkier (in a good way) and enhanced its road presence. Everything feels sturdier and more adventure-ready. But no product is perfect, right?

They have a lot of other accessories available for V-Strom SX 250 too, check out on their website.

Minor Con:

ZANA’s paint quality could use some improvement. Over time—say after 2–3 years—you might notice the paint chipping off or rust setting in, especially if you ride in coastal or high-humidity areas. A little repaint job or proper care and maintenance should take care of it.

Final Thoughts

These metal mods have truly transformed my V-Strom SX 250 into a more rugged, capable machine. Whether you're a weekend warrior or a long-distance tourer, these upgrades offer great value, functionality, and peace of mind.

*This is not a ZANA brand promotion—it's simply what I personally installed and my honest experience with their products.

Hope this blog helps you plan your own mod journey! Stay tuned for the next post, where I’ll talk about luggage systems and carrying setups.

Until then—ride safe, ride far. 🤘
